Teacher Information
Name:Anderson, Gayla

I have been teaching for over 25 years and this is my fourteenth year in the Gardner Edgerton School District.   My career started in Valley Falls, Kansas as a Home Economics teacher after receiving my Bachelor’s Degree from Baker University.  After taking some time off to start my family and earn my Master’s Degree in the area of Special Education, I went back to the special education classroom for fifteen years before returning to the secondary Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) classroom.  This is my ninth year at GEHS in the FACS department with my primary teaching responsibilities in the food preparation and nutrition areas.

My husband and I have officially moved into the empty nest phase of life with a daughter that just got married and moved to Austin this last summer after graduating from Missouri S & T with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Our son joined the  the  army several years ago after 4 years at KU and is currently stationed at Fort Bragg serving  as a medic.  The letting go part hasn’t been bad but the ‘What are they doing now?’ and ‘How are they really?’ is just a part of the mom mentality.  However, I am now finding more leisure time to sew, read, and do church stuff.

Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail with concerns or questions throughout the year.  It’s a joy to come to school everyday and work with the students, parents, and staff of GEHS.  I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Gardner Edgerton School District.
